The Project

How we managed to get candidates to find EDM Group

EDM Group came to us as a new recruitment business entering a competitive market — construction, engineering, and industrial recruitment across Scotland. They had the industry knowledge and the network, but no brand and no online presence to show for it. Without a logo, brand guidelines, or a website, they were operating without the professional credibility that candidates and employers expect when evaluating a recruitment partner. Everything needed building from scratch.

We started with the brand. Before a single page was designed, we developed a logo and visual identity that positioned EDM Group as a credible, professional recruitment agency — not a startup feeling its way. The identity needed to work across a website, social media, job adverts, and candidate-facing documents, so we built brand guidelines alongside it to ensure consistency from day one. With the identity in place, we moved to the website. The brief was clear — build a site that converts visitor interest into tangible leads. For a recruitment agency, that means two audiences: candidates looking for work, and employers looking to hire. The site needed to speak to both without diluting either. We structured the content around EDM's three sectors — construction, engineering, and industrial — with clear pathways for candidates to submit a CV and for employers to register a vacancy, alongside a clean, professional aesthetic that builds immediate trust with anyone landing on the page.

The site functions as EDM's primary candidate acquisition channel. Rather than relying solely on job boards or LinkedIn to source applicants, the website gives EDM a direct route — candidates find them through search, land on a professional platform that communicates credibility and sector expertise, and submit their details directly. The contact and CV upload forms mean warm leads arrive in EDM's inbox ready to be acted on, rather than sitting behind a third-party platform. The brand guidelines mean that every piece of content EDM produces — whether that's a job advert, a LinkedIn post, or a client proposal — follows the same visual rules. The professionalism of the initial brand impression is maintained at every touchpoint without needing to come back to us each time.

EDM Group launched with a complete brand identity and a fully operational website — logo, brand guidelines, site, and all candidate-facing forms live and functioning from day one. The site is built on Wix, giving the EDM team full control to update content, add job listings, and manage the blog independently. Since launch, EDM has been picking up direct candidate leads regularly through the website — candidates who found them through search and converted through the site rather than through a job board. For a new recruitment business entering a competitive sector, having a professional online presence that generates inbound interest from day one is a significant commercial advantage.
